IGOR TCHETUEV Laureate of the First Prize
The 9th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition Tel-Aviv, 1998
Born in Sebastopol (Ukraine) in 1980, pupil of Tatiana Kim at the Sebastopol School of Music, Igor Tchetuev has an impressive list of diplomas. In 1994, he was the Grand Prix winner of the International Vladimir Krainev Young Pianists Competition (Ukraine).
Currently he studies under Vladimir Krainev at the Musik Hochschule in Hannover (Germany).
Igor Tchetuev has appeared as piano soloist with the Symphony Orchestras of the Crimea, Saint Petersburg under Alexander Dmitriev, Nizniy-Novgorod, the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic Society of Ukraine under Mikola Dyadyura, the TV and Radio Orchestra of the Ukraine under Vladimir Sirenko, the Orchestre de Bretagne (France) under Jean-Pierre Wallez, as well as with the Saint Cecilia Orchestra of Italy and the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra under Vladimir Spivakov.
His appearances have also taken him to Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, and to all countries across Europe, as well as to the U. S.A. and Canada.
He has been heard in the Colmar International Festival (France), the Menuhin Festival (Gstadt); the Braunschweig Festival (Germany), and the Zino Francescatti Festival (Aix-en-Provence). Tchetuev is the first prize Laureate, and was also voted "Audience Favourite", of the prestigious Ninth Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition (Tel Aviv, 1998). The Competition also awarded him various additional prizes, among them a grand concert piano, as well as concert tours of the Far East and Germany.
After winning the Rubinstein Competition, Igor Tchetuev was engaged to appear in the Klavier Festival Ruhr, again in the Braunschweig Festival, and in the Gioventu Musicale dItalia. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra has invited him to perform under Frühbeck de Burgos in a subscription series (10 concerts in June 99). In 1999, he will also appear with the Hague Philharmonic Orchestra under Evgeny Svetlanov.
